The Geography Club brought Christian Gilbert (2000 Geography Graduate) and his climbing partner Brian Honkomp to campus on Monday March 2nd.  They gave an inspiring multi-media presentation with video clips, slides, maps and gear from their recent climb of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas.  Christian Gilbert teaches world geography at Clearwater Middle School in Waconia, Minnesota and Brian Honkomp teaches earth science. They sent their gps coordinates and text messages to their students who tracked them on Google Earth all the way up the 22,841 foot mountain.  Next up for their adventurers are climbs up Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest in Africa) and Mount Elbrus (the highest in Russia/Europe). Both climbs with be combined with educational virtual geography components for their students back home.
