Geography Alumna Angela Magnusson Wins Rotary Fellowship to India

Gustavus geography graduate Angela Magnusson ’09 of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota has been awarded a competitive Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Fellowship. She will spend the 2011-2012 academic year studying rural development at the University of Delhi in India. Angela is well prepared for this opportunity. As an undergraduate student, Angela spent a semester studying community development in India through a Gustavus-led program. Angela wrote her senior geography thesis on the role of community gardens in cultivating a sense of home for new immigrants to rural Minnesota. The Rotary Ambassadorial Fellowship program is designed to send out ambassadors of goodwill and in so doing prepare tomorrow’s world leaders.
