Welcome geographers and friends of geography to the 2013 academic year at Gustavus Adolphus College. The Department of Geography is proud to welcome back Anna Versluis as Department Co-Chair, Visiting Instructor Lencho Bati, Visiting Assistant Professor Ryan Bergstrom, Professors Emeriti Bob Douglas and Bob Moline, and Administrative Assistant Judy Helmeke. We are especially excited to welcome Visiting Assistant Professor Joaquin Villanueva who joins us from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. We are also proud to welcome back 19 geography majors, including 10 third-year, and 7 fourth-year students, as well as over 250 students who are enrolled in geography-related courses this fall (a 15 percent increase over Fall 2012).
With a full slate of regional and national conferences, guest speakers, and a host of geography-related activities planned, it is sure to be an exciting year! Stay tuned for more information regarding the events listed below and much, much more.
