After the Newtown, Connecticut, school shootings last week, the national debate on gun rights and gun control is raised once again.  The New York Times has a map of the United States showing how the National Rifle Association (NRA) rates members of Congress based on their voting record on issues of gun control. Maps are available for both the House of Representatives and the Senate. In the House, more than half of lawmakers get an NRA “A” rating for being solidly pro-gun. In the Senate, 46 of 100 Senators have an “A” rating.

For those of us in Southern Minnesota, House member Tim Walz (Democrat) has an “A” and Senator Amy Klobuchar (Democrat) has an “F.” (Senator Al Franken doesn’t yet have a rating.)
