Kitty Hurley ’07 is at MGIS student at St. Mary’s University working on GIS for homeland security/emergency management.  She is also a student intern in the Water Resources Engineering group at the MN Department of Transportation.  She also was awarded an assistantship to work at at the ESRI User Conference in San Diego.

Kyle Chester, a  ’07 geography graduate, is working as an intern at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountainview, California.  He is working with satellite remote sensing for earth science research projects.  Kyle is also working on a Master’s in GIS at the University of Minnesota.

Ann Fletchall ’00 won the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers Student President’s Award for Outstanding Paper by a Ph.D. Student.  Ann is a Ph.D. student at Arizona State University and her winning paper was given in 2007 at the APCG meeting.  Her paper was a study of the Arizona Renaissance Festival and was entitled, “The…

Geography graduate Nicholas Jost ’08 was recently assigned to Madagascar where he will work as a Peace Corps environmental education specialist.  He leaves on February 10, 2009.  During fall 2008 he will audit French classes at Gustavus to get ready for Madagascar where Malagasy and French are the primary languages.

Gabe Joyes ’08 wrote to let us know that he has been hired by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as a GIS Technician.  He will be based in the Lander, Wyoming office.  We all remember how Gabe fell in love with the American West while in Bob Moline’s class.  So, congratulations Gabe!
