Geography Department presents research at Florida conference Posted on April 24th, 2014 by

Earlier this month, Dr. Ryan Bergstrom, Meg Wika (’14), and Dr. Anna Versluis attended the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Bergstrom kept busy as the Discussant and Chair, respectively, for two sessions on rural sustainability in addition to being a finalist for the J. Warren Nystrom Award. The paper he presented was titled Change, Control, and Sustainability in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Dr. Bergstrom was also elected Chair of the Rural Geography Specialty Group. Congratulations, Ryan!

Senior Geography and Environmental Studies major Meg Wika presented her senior thesis research, Family, Patriotism, and Land Stewardship: Employing the Rural Ideal to Champion Corn Ethanol in Minnesota.

Dr. Versluis presented a study she conducted with Gustavus Librarian Anna Hulseberg on Integrating Information Literacy into an Undergraduate Geographic Research Methods Course.

aagNext year’s AAG meeting will be held in Chicago from April 21-25, 2015. Plan to attend!
